The Glos+Stars Ian Day set up GLOS+STARS three years ago to provide development training for those that wanted it. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength with an average of 20-30 members taking advantage of the training on offer. 2009 saw GLOS+STARS Badminton Club entering the International Tournament in Strasbourg - a graded event. The club was represented in both the B and C grades with key players making it to the knockout stages on day two. The highlight for many was the B Grade Doubles where there was an all English final Andy Woolway/Joe Griffiths and Joe Honeybone/Chris Dickens. They then continued their good fortune, winning the Victor Sprudel Cup in Germany. We are just a couple of weeks away from 2010 Strasbourg International where the club hopes to do even better than 2009. Also they return to Germany in August to defend their title. Locally the club has won Division 3 Gloucestershire Mens and Mid Gloucestershire Mixed & Mens hoping to better next year. More recently GLOS+STARS Badminton Club has approached Badminton England wanting to raise the bar with a Performance Centre Application which they plan to deliver in November in 2010. |
