The Gloucestershire Badminton Senior Teams Gloucestershire Badminton have been able to run two Senior Teams who participate in the YEHLEX INTER COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPs. The First Team is in division 1D and the Second team is in Division 4D. We have tried to play all our home matches at Chosen Hill Sports Centre, Churchdown, Nr Gloucester. It is a specially designed badminton hall, new and has easy access from the M5 motorway. We have tried to use the second team to give developing youngsters the opportunity to play a good competitive standard of Badminton, to gain experience to move up to play in the first team. The team is comprised of a mixture of youth and older more experienced players. Click here We believe and actively encourage players to participate in the ORBITAL TOURNAMENTS to improve play and gain more experience. Players from the Second team can only play in the First Team Three times before they are tied. Unfortunately Gloucestershire at the moment only have limited resources for players. We have tried to give everyone the opportunity to play in the First team when we can. First Team Players: The tournament rules require that four male and 4 female players are nominated to play in this team, and they must play 4 times. The Nominated players are: Becky Pantaney, Kerry Mullen: Natalie Guilders: Jess Hill: Chris Hotchen: Mike Haywood: Matt Siddle: Alex Ewins. Other players who have played for the team are Phil Wyatt, Kyle Nethercote, Andrew Hotchen, Jake Wyatt, Sol Griffiths, Michelle Davis, Mandy Joiner, Emily Witham, Helen Corke, Lisa Gardiner, Adam Watts. Some of the younger players such as Adam Watts, Sol Griffiths, Jake Wyatt, Lisa Gardiner, and Emily Witham have all played in the First Team and have all performed very well with some thrilling games. They have also have noted the difference in standard and speed. Our final match this season is against Avon away on 21 March 2010 at Kingsdown, Bristol, starting at 12 Midday. |
